Animal Kingdom Lodge is comprised of two parts: Jambo House and Kidani Village. Jambo House is the main part of the lodge. A smaller section of the property is called Kidani Village and is reserved for the Disney Vacation Club. Even if you are a DVC member and are selling your DVC, you can still stay at Kidani Village if there is space available.
The entire lodge is an example of authentic African design and architecture. Not to be missed is the largest collection of African art found outside the African continent. Pieces can be found throughout the entire lodge.
Be sure to request a savanna view when booking your stay. There are three distinct savannas, Uzima, Arusha, and Sunset. Different animals populate different savannas. These amazing creatures are available for viewing 24 hours a day.
Go on a Safari
The Animal Kingdom Lodge hosts the famous night expedition known as Starlight Safari. You will ride in an authentic safari vehicle and be given night vision devices to search out the exotic animals that live on the savannas.
There is also a Wanyama or Sunset Safari at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. This safari allows you an up-close and personal experience with the animals. Animal management and general animal information will be the topics. The safari will end with a wonderful dinner.
Dining Experiences
The Animal Kingdom Lodge offers several dining opportunities on the property. Boma is an expansive buffet that serves everything from chicken fingers to savory African dishes. The authentically decorated restaurant is located in Jambo house.
Cape Town Lounge and Wine Bar, paired with Jiko, offer a fine dining experience where guests can order dinner and pair it with an African wine. Victoria Falls also serves wine, cocktails, and African cuisine.
Food tours are a bonus for guests. Food tours of Boma and Jiko will allow guests to sample the cuisine of both restaurants for free. This includes the famous Zebra Dome which is one of the most sought-after desserts at Disney World!
Animal Kingdom Lodge Swimming Pools
The Animal Kingdom Lodge Pools are not to be missed! The first, Uzima Springs Pool is located at Jambo House. This pool is the largest of the two with a zero-entry point and a 67-foot water slide.
The second pool is the Samawati Springs Pool at Kidani Village. This smaller pool also has a zero-entry point and a waterslide. This pool includes a water playground.
The quiet pools sit in lush, tropical foliage, nestled near the savannas, quietly offering a refreshing afternoon that is surprisingly close to the animals.
